Managing the Risk of a Data Breach: Ethical Obligation & Cybersecurity CLE

Thursday, February 8

12 to 1 p.m.

Jayhawk Tower - Florentine Room

700 SW Jackson Street - Topeka

Presented by Danielle Hall, Office of Disciplinary Administrator

Data breaches are the new normal for businesses, entities, and agencies of all types and sizes. Law firms, legal departments, and governments and their agencies are sure to be in the crosshairs as cyber attackers widen their scope to find new “high value” targets. While we might classify data breaches as an IT issue, our ethics rules impose duties upon us to protect the confidentiality of client data. They also require attorneys to practice competently and to supervise office staff and third parties with access to client data. During this session, we will discuss your ethical obligations relating to data breaches and you will learn how to manage the risk of a data breach, how to train your staff on what to look for and avoid, and the best practices for working with third party vendors.

$25 - TBA members

$55 - Non-TBA members

No charge for Law Students.
