    • 9:00-10:30 What is Technology? Why is it important to know about it?

      Objectives:

      • Define technology as it’s employed in this presentation
      • Identify common technologies that abusers, perpetrators, and stalkers misuse to further abuse of domestic and sexual violence and stalking
      • Demonstrate how this use and misuse of technology can effect clients and attorneys
      • Understand how these technologies work through interactive application
      • Put technology resources on the participant’s radar 
    • 10:30-10:40 Break
    • 10:40-12:00  Ever Evolving Technology and the Tech-Savvy Perpetrator
    • Objectives:

      • Call attention to the different types of technology that perpetrators use, for example:
        • Voice-activated personal assistants (Amazon Echo, etc.)
        • Car trackers (Verizon Hum, etc.)
        • Key makers (KeyMe App, etc.)
        • Fitness apps (Fitbit, Garmin, etc.)
        • Online banking
      • Identify the different ways victims and attorneys can protect themselves from this technology
      • Provide support and resources for persons (or clients) experiencing victimization via technology
      • Apply this knowledge to safety planning for victims/survivors/clients/attorneys/etc.
    • 12:00-12:30 LUNCH (Lunch is available to purchase at the Jayhawk Cafe.)
    • 12:30-1:30 Ethical Considerations and Victim Confidentiality

    Objectives:

    • Consider ethical obligations in relation to victim privacy concerns with digital information
    • Identify information and records that may be confidential, privileged, non-material, and/or irrelevant
    • Engage in effective and ethical pretrial litigation to protect victim privacy
    • Successfully respond to defense attempts to obtain confidential records
