This year, the TBA is continuing the tradition of following the lead of the American Bar Association in adopting the ABA's national theme for Law Day. This year, that theme is "American Democracy and the Rule of Law: Why Every Vote Matters." This theme recognizes the upcoming 50th anniversaries of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
The TBA is planning a number of activities for 2014 Law Day.
Law Day Coloring Contest
The TBA has started the tradition of holding a Law Day Coloring Contest each year. The contest is open to children in 1st through 5th grades. For this year's coloring sheet, entry form, and instructions click here. A $25 prize will be awarded to a winner in each grade. Entries are due by Friday, April 11, 2014.
Law Day 5K
For a fourth year, the TBA Young Lawyers Division will host a Law Day 5K. This year's race will take place at Washburn Law School on April 26, 2014. The race consists of a 5K and 1 mile run/walk. Again, this is an event that is open to the public. Proceeds from the event are donated to Kansas Legal Services.
